Carrie Smith is best known for painting larger than life portraits.  Originally from Clearwater, FL and raised in Mansfield, OH, Smith has had a love for art since she was a child.  Her passion for painting led her to pursue a degree in painting and drawing at Ohio University.  During college, Smiths focus was learning how to paint portraits.  After graduating in 2014, Smith returned to Florida to begin a career as a fine art painter.  You can find her painting in her art studio in St. Petersburg at the ArtsXchange and selected Bella Unica Art Events. Smith works off of commissions and will accept a limited number each year.

I believe the bigger the painting, the greater the impact it will have on the viewer.  My goal as an artist is to capture the essence of each individual I paint.  I use a glazing technique that mixes oil paint, linseed oil and liquin together. This combination allows me to build up layers of paint over time to create a life like representation of the sitter.
