Artisan jewelry is a new and thriving trend in fashion. Lots of famous designers are seeking their inspirations at the local Indie markets and from talented craftsmen. Since I started to promote Art to Wear, I received many questions about How to Wear Artisan Jewelry. We girls, often find ourselves buying something, bringing it home – even with the admiration – we’re not wearing that particular piece, simply because in our mind artisan jewelry needs some sort of special outfit.
In this series of articles, I will show you how simple and stress free it is to incorporate your artisan jewelry into your wardrobe.
Today, let’s talk about a popular statement piece, like Sliced Agate. The good news is it’s one of those timeless and organic pieces you can wear season after season. There are a variety of colors and shapes. You can’t go wrong with it, and since it was hand sliced from the stone, your piece will be truly OOAK (one of a kind).
Because of the silky, smooth surface and beautiful colors: the gradients of color from dark on the outer rim to a lighter tone towards the center, sometimes with a crystalline center, it will look gorgeous on silk, linen and combination of silk and wool. These fabrics will complement your piece.
Here I’ve chosen my silk dress as a canvas for this organic piece and added silk scarf in nice burgundy color.
I am also a bit obsessed with white blouses. I won’t tell you how many I have; BUT a white blouse is a must-have in your wardrobe. And if you own a piece of artisan jewelry, there is no better match. What I love most about Artisan Jewelry is it brings any everyday casual outfit to life, as well as can be worn as a statement piece to the most glamorous event.
As color goes – here are three simple tips:
You can wear your piece with complimentary colors, like Tanya, the blogger behind Dans le Lakehouse, does.
You can pick one of your favorite colors on your multicolored dress and match your agate with it. I have chosen the earthly brown piece from our Laura Albright Collection, to enhance the print on my dress.
You can wear your sliced agate with the same color clothes, like I did in the first photo, or how Roxann, the owner of Lizardi Jewelry is wearing her beautiful piece.
