Red Shoes by Debbie Bright
Stories behind art are fascinating. Artists use their brushes, paint, canvases and tools to create stories like writers use a pen and paper. Here artists reveal the inspiration behind their masterpieces. It’s a rare opportunity to not guess but hear how the work was born first hand.

“This is a painting I did of Egmont Key, Florida, after lightning sparked a fire that burned 80 acres on a small island at the mouth of Tampa Bay, in July 2016. Firefighters worked tirelessly in the blazing heat to put it out and save wildlife.
The effects of a natural fire that charred a quarter of Egmont Key was still noticeable a year later, but now, bright green undergrowth has already replaced the blackened detritus.
This painting represents new growth and the red shows new beginnings.”
